The official notes for the waymarked loop over the mountain behind the village: 9.8 km, about two and a half hours, graded strenuous, following blue arrows from the tourist office at the harbour. Dogs are not permitted on this trail.
It starts at the harbour car park, a few minutes' walk from the house. Leave the dog at home for this one and take them along the Greenway instead.
The cross-border greenway is finished: about 20 km of traffic-free path along the lough from Carlingford to Newry, where it joins the canal towpath on towards Portadown.
